This is about two abandoned settlements in two Omani villages – Al Myah and Bawsher. Both have its vestiges, dust-covered, deserted and dilapidated. Both have two new settlements adjacent to them, with modern houses and amenities, with new generation thriving well.
The mud-wall houses which once hosted hectic and hard life of many Omanis have begun to break down – roofs hanging, doors broken, and floors guttered. The generation lived a life of frugality, and toil, making use of the meager natural resources, amidst the harshest of hard weather.
My intent is to find and document, in addition to the architecture and ancient design of the homes, signs of habitation, marks of creativity and cryptic symbols of rustiness of life that once spent inside.
